Welcome To Leisure Rooms New England

Sunrooms

Until fairly recently, sunrooms were generally thought of as a high-end green house with inoperable glass walls and glass roof attached to the house. Power ventilation and air conditioning were normal requirements. Patio rooms were seen as a more affordable and practical attached outdoor living space with operable glass walls and a solid non-glass roof system. Both categories used pre-finished modular components. Most major manufacturers of these products joined together in 1997 to form the National Sunroom Association to address common issues related to building code limitations and to promote the industry. The distinctions between sunrooms, patio rooms and enclosures are often blurred and the term sunroom is now standard for the entire industry.

Leisure Rooms New England has affiliated with Joyce Manufacturing Company of Berea, Ohio since 1995. Joyce Manufacturing has produced sunroom components since 1955. Back then aluminum home improvements introduced the promise of low maintenance exteriors. The 1970’s energy crisis propelled vinyl to the forefront as the logical replacement for aluminum. Joyce still produces a superior aluminum sunroom that we offer for certain custom applications. Today, Joyce Manufacturing produces a full range of vinyl 3-season and all-season sunrooms to meet the varying requirements of our customers. Joyce produced the first all vinyl sunroom wall system in 1997 and is the leading industry manufacturer of vinyl sunrooms.

WHY VINYL?

Most everyone’s ideal sunroom combines these features: good looks, low maintenance, comfort/energy efficiency and strength. How do wood, aluminum or vinyl sunrooms compare? Wood ranks highest for maintenance. Aluminum is lowest for comfort and energy efficiency. Vinyl, by itself, can’t handle heavy wind and snow loads. So why do vinyl sunrooms come out on top? Vinyl wins outright on three of these four ideal features and can be structurally reinforced to achieve full strength.

WHY OUR VINYL?

When Joyce Manufacturing saw the need and opportunity to introduce vinyl along side their aluminum sunroom line in 1997, they did everything the right way. Joyce designed every component to work together as a system. They chose the best vinyl chemistry. They developed a vinyl wall system reinforced with internal aluminum extrusions that is stronger than aluminum alone. The windows and doors were made so they snap-lock to the structural wall components for a more finished look that is air tight and water tight without caulk. Some competing sunroom factories are now adding vinyl sunroom manufacturing because of the demand stimulated by the Joyce vinyl sunroom. Meanwhile Joyce Manufacturing has now created six vinyl sunroom product lines and offers customers a complete selection of three season and all season sunrooms. Leisure Rooms New England offers you four of these product lines appropriate to our climate. They exceed all code requirements for snow and wind loads.

CLIMATEMASTER ROOF

Joyce’s Climatemaster two-piece compression style roof mullion system flawlessly connects our pre-finished, insulated roof panels. This is the only sunroom roof system we have seen that is adequately designed and manufactured to be watertight upon installation and to remain watertight for the life of the sunroom. Superior strength; our roofs can safely support thousands of pounds. No ugly caulking that deteriorates because of exposure. No condensation or extra heat loss typical of I-beam connectors. Roofs can be shingled, ceilings can be standard, drywall, finished wood, etc.

Because the roof system is designed to remain watertight, less roof pitch is required. Our region requires a 30lb/SF snow load design and Joyce warrants water-tightness of this roof down to ½”/Ft. That means we can give you more wall height – our “standard” wall height is 88”, the industry “standard” wall height is only 81”. That means more glass and enough head room for a ceiling fan which is standard on Leisure Rooms New England sunrooms.

GLASS CHOICES

These days, no sunroom or window company manufacturers their own glass system on their own. They rely on giant specialty float glass companies like PPG, Cardinal or AFG that produce the glass and hold the patents for the high-performance coatings, spacers, and sealants. The sunroom and window companies select from various combinations of the components for their use. They often add their own advertising trade name such as Wonder Glass, Comfort 365 Glass or Comfort-Guard Plus to their finished product. This sometimes makes it difficult to directly compare important properties such as visible light transmittance, reflectance, shading coefficient, U-Factor, and indoor glass temperature unless the sunroom or window company posts this numerical information on their own website or tells you how to look it up on the glass manufacturer's website.

Joyce Manufacturing exclusively uses the LoĒ3-366 combination of components from Cardinal Glass throughout their all season sunroom lineup discussed below. LoĒ3-366 was introduced in 2006 and we recommend a visit to www.cardinalcorp.com/products_coated_366/366.htm to play the video on this unsurpassed state of the art product. The desirable visible light is allowed in but 95% of the undesirable ultraviolet light that damages fabrics and furniture is excluded. This is important in a room that is almost all glass. Our vinyl windows and doors with LoĒ3-366 glass help hold the heat in during our New England winters and keep the heat out during the summer for all season enjoyment. Ask our representative to demonstrate how amazingly effective LoĒ3-366 glass is in stopping heat transfer.

Our single glazed 3-season versions are available in clear or Solex Green. And always, all our glass is tempered safety glass.
